Gooey Nutella Cookies

Being as big a Nutella lover as you can get, I am completely in love with these cookies. The gooey Nutella surprise oozing from the cookie can easily fool anyone into thinking that baking these would be quite a task. However as long as you have all the ingredients at hand these are very easy to make and the recipe is quite simple to follow. I made these cookies two ways, one being chocolate chip and second plain chocolate, both being filled with Nutella.

Butter 1 stick or ½ cup
Sugar 2/3 cup
Eggs 2 whole
Vanilla Extract 1 teaspoon
Flour 2 cups
Baking Powder 1 teaspoon
Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips 1 cup (for the chocolate chip version)
Cocoa 2 Tablespoon (for the chocolate version)
Nutella (of course!) 1 teaspoon per cookie

You would start off by making sure your butter is soft and at room temperature so that it is easy to mix. Prepare your baking tray with a layer of greaseproof paper , parchment paper or aluminium foil as I did. Preheat your oven to 350 F and then were good to go!

Firstly mix all your wet ingredients together, starting with the butter and sugar. I used a hand whisk, which worked perfectly. You could use a wooden spoon, an electric beater or even your Kitchenaid whichever you prefer. Mix both ingredients together till they are soft and creamy. Add one egg at a time and mix thoroughly. Add in the vanilla extract and mix. By this time your mixture will be runny and quite liquidy.

Measure and mix both dry ingredients, which are flour and baking powder together. Add half of this to the wet mixture, mix thoroughly and add the rest. Your dough should have formed by now soft to touch but firm at the same time. You can now decide which option you want to go for and add the remaining ingredient accordingly i.e. cocoa or chocolate chips whichever you decide.

Now that our dough is ready we can start adding the Nutella. Take about 1½ tablespoon of the dough and spread it out in a flat circle in the palm of your hand. Should be approximately around ¼ inch thick. Add 1 teaspoon of chilled Nutella in the middle and fold the dough around it to make it into the shape of a ball. Make sure that the Nutella is not seeping out from the ball, add more dough if needed!



Spread the dough balls onto the prepared baking tray about 1½ inch apart.


Put them in the oven for 12-14 minutes till they are golden brown. Let them cool down for 5-10 minutes before you divulge into this amazing Nutella Goodness!
